The project involves the refurbishment of a housing complex comprising 72 housing units.
In line with the Climate Plan for the building located on Rue Jeanne d’Arc – Hutinel, our aim is to give it a strong identity by reworking the entire façade, its openings, and its overall rhythm.
The implementation of external thermal insulation (ETI) and the addition of shading elements provide an opportunity to redesign the façade while maintaining its existing proportions. Through a play of openings, closures, and subtle shifts, a pattern emerges, introducing a sense of movement. The façade is alive! It shifts and changes throughout the day.
A chromatic study was undertaken based on the immediate surroundings of the site, aiming to establish a dynamic yet harmonious palette that feels contemporary without breaking the surrounding aesthetic.
The façade addresses multiple scales, from street to domestic use. From afar, it offers colour to the city. Up close, it breaks down into individual living units that extend outward, forming habitable projections with a variety of potential uses.
Whether in terms of architecture or landscape, our approach is rooted in the existing — in what is already there — and seeks to initiate a virtuous process: reconciling heritage preservation, sustainable design, and the challenges of biodiversity and climate resilience.
With this project on Rue Jeanne d’Arc, our goal is to strike a balance between the preservation of the existing, urban revitalisation, and long-term environmental sustainability.
