The project is located at the heart of the Satory Ouest business area (Yvelines, 78, France). The building is designed around a transparent garden, which acts as the backbone of the Mines ParisTech research centre. Its textured façade, clad in glazed terracotta, plays with light in contrast to the exposed timber structure visible from within.
The Passivhaus-level thermal performance, timber structure, straw insulation, and hempcrete demonstrate that high architectural ambition can go hand in hand with sustainable, low-impact construction.
The bioclimatic garden is a place for exchange and informal interaction. A convivial, open-air demonstrator that encourages synergy between the various departments of the research centre.
